Easter Egg Hunt I Spy {Free Printable}

If you're looking for a fun and free Easter activity that involves virtually no set up, no clean up {and no chocolate}, you've found it! I've created a free printable Easter egg I spy game that you can download to use with the kids at home, or at school as a classroom activity. It's a great way for children to express their creativity while working on their fine motor and number skills.

This Easter egg I spy game is so easy to play, kids simply need to colour then count how many of each type of Easter egg there is in the picture and record the number at the bottom on the key. To make it easier to count I recommend they colour and count 1 design at a time.

This activity is a great way to practice counting and number formation when writing the numbers at the bottom. Colouring in is also great for hand strengthening and hand/eye coordination. The game is suitable for children from preschoolers upwards as long as they can count up to 6 and generally know how to write numbers.

When to use this Easter I spy printable

  • School - I spy is a great game for maths or art rotations, or during free time in the lead up to Easter.
  • Home - This is a fun activity to do at home as it's easy to set up and can be done in one sitting, or children can come back to it to complete later.
  • Egg hunt - If you prefer to skip a traditional Easter egg hunt you can use the I spy game as a printable egg hunt.
  • Easter basket filler - If you give the kids an Easter basket of goodies you can add this printable to it.

How to use Easter I Spy activity

1. Print out the Easter egg hunt I spy template onto white paper. Print as many copies as needed {1 for each child}.

2. Colour in the different eggs in the answer panel. Each egg will have it's own unique pattern + whatever colour scheme the kids choose. Younger kids may colour each egg one solid colour, while older kids may create multi coloured eggs.

My daughter is 9 so she coloured each egg design with multiple colours. She's particularly fond of using rainbow colours so tried to incorporate that into as many eggs as possible.

3. Choose 1 egg design then find and colour each egg in that design within the I spy sheet.

4. Count and write the number of eggs for that design in the answer key.

5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 for each egg design. Children can choose to colour all eggs and then count them, however it'll be easier for younger children to do them one egg design at a time.
