The calendar features 25 simple, recognisable images of traditional Christmas items that most children will be familiar with whether you live in the Northern or Southern hemispheres. Think stockings, candy canes, Christmas trees, reindeer, Christmas lights and more. Please note the calendar does feature an image of Santa and a letter to Santa. The Christmas countdown colouring calendar is designed with kids of all ages in mind. The pictures are deliberately simple and easy to colour, making them perfect for preschoolers who are still developing their fine motor skills. They're also small enough that tiny hands won't get fatigued colouring them in each day. At the same time, the open, uncluttered designs give older children the freedom to get creative. They can add extra details, patterns, or even colour in the backgrounds to make each square their own.
You can reprint the colouring calendar each year as it's not dated for a specific year with dates matching certain days of the week, but rather as a continuous 25 day countdown. HOW TO USE YOUR CHRISTMAS COLOURING COUNTDOWN CALENDAR
1. Print off the free printable template onto white paper {or cardstock}.
2. Each day colour in the square that corresponds with the date. E.g. 1 on December 1st. Continue colouring in a new square each day until you reach Christmas day.
3. Tick off the suggested Christmas activities at the bottom of the sheet as you complete them throughout the month {optional}. You don't need to do these activities if you don't want to, they're just suggestions for general Christmas themed activities that the kids might like to do throughout December.
4. Laminate your completed calendar {optional}. If you want to keep the kids finished colouring sheet as a keepsake then I suggest laminating it so it won't deteriorate over time in storage.
Ways to use your completed colouring sheet:
- Laminate it to use as a placemat at Christmas time next year
- Write a message on the back to a family member and gift it as an overside card
- Cut out each individual square and use them as labels for a DIY advent calendar next year.
- Cut out each square and use them for number games. e.g. order them from lowest to highest, group in odd and even numbers.
