DIY MOTHER'S DAY BOOKMARKS
When I designed the Mother's Day bookmarks I came up with 3 different simple designs using items such as flowers and hearts so they'll appeal to most Mum's. I also deliberately used the phrase Happy Mother's Day on 2 bookmarks and I love you to pieces on the last one so they can be used by children in any country whether they have a Mum or Mom, and they can be used for Grandma or Nanna as well.
Supplies needed:
- Scissors
- White paper
- Bookmark template
- Coloured pencils, pens or crayons
- Laminator + pouches {optional}
How to make DIY Mother's Day colouring in bookmarks
1. Print out bookmark templates onto white paper. If you don't have a laminator to laminate the completed bookmarks then I suggest printing the templates onto white cardstock instead for more durability.
2. Colour in each bookmark design. Each different bookmark design has been created with simple pictures and bubble writing so they're easier for children to colour in, regardless of their age. The bookmarks can be coloured in using pencils, crayons or pens. If you're feeling really adventurous you can let them decorate them with paint.
Don't worry if they don't stay within the lines and the colours don't make sense, this is a great chance for them to be creative and design their own special bookmarks. It's also a great way for them to get some fine motor practice and build up their hand strength.
3. Write a note or child's name on the back. To personalise the bookmarks add a special note from your child, or get them to write their name, on the back of the bookmark and add the date so it can be kept as a keepsake.
4. Laminate coloured bookmarks {optional}. If you have access to a laminator I highly recommend laminating the bookmarks so they won't get easily damaged and will remain in great condition for many years to come.
5. Cut out individual bookmarks. If you're worried about sharp corners then cut curved corners so there's no sharp edges. Younger children may need help cutting their bookmarks out.
