Spring I Spy Game {Free Printable}

This free printable Spring I spy game is a great activity for children to learn about nature that thrives during spring time. Similar to a nature scavenger hunt, this I spy game encourages children to search and find certain animals and plants, but on paper with minimal set up.

It's perfect for a quiet time or rainy day activity at home or in the classroom. Simply download and print the free printable Spring I spy game and grab some pencils or markers. 

SPRING I SPY GAME

This Spring I spy game is so easy to play, kids simply need to colour then count how many hatching chicks, birds, nests, flowers, sprigs, butterflies, ladybugs and bees there are in the picture and record the number at the bottom on the answer key. 

Some of the images have been positioned on different angles or facing different directions to make it a little more challenging to find. There's also images of differing sizes throughout the template. To make it easier to count I recommend children colour and count 1 item at a time.

This activity is a great way to practice counting and number formation when writing the numbers at the bottom. Colouring in is also great for developing pencil grip, hand strengthening and hand/eye coordination. 

The game is suitable for children from preschoolers upwards as long as they can count up to 9 and know how to write numbers. The I spy game comes with both US and AU/UK spelling options.

Supplies needed:

• White paper
• Game template
• Pencils, crayons or markers
• Pencil

How to use Spring I Spy colouring game

1. Print out the Spring I spy template onto white paper. Print as many copies as needed {1 for each child}.

If you want to make this activity reusable, print and then laminate the blank template, or use it with a dry erase packet. Children can then use the game with washable markers. This is a great way for teachers to save on printing if the game will be used during group rotations.

2. Colour in the different items in the answer panel. Younger children may choose to colour each image using one solid colour, while older children are more likely to create multi coloured designs.

3. Choose 1 item and colour in all of that item in the template. E.g. colour all of the ladybugs.

4. Count all of the items and record the amount in the answer key. E.g. count all of the ladybugs and write the total in the box beside the ladybug on the answer key.

5. Complete steps 3 & 4 for each remaining item until the whole sheet is coloured and counted.
