One of the most exciting parts of Christmas as a child is coming up with your Santa list and writing a letter to Santa at the North Pole then desperately waiting for Christmas Day to see if you got what you wanted. This year I made my own letter to Santa template for my girls and I've added it here so you can download it and use it too.
Writing a letter to Santa is not only exciting, it's also a great way for children to practice their handwriting, helps with language development and is a fun way to build their hand strength. Even if you have younger children you can fill out the writing sections and then they can colour in the images at the bottom.
HOW TO WRITE YOUR LETTER TO SANTA
To fill in the letter to Santa, you will need:
1. Print out the free letter to Santa template onto white paper or cardstock. The printable is black and white except for the North Pole stamp and wax seal. You'll need to print the template in colour to have these print properly.
2. Get children to fill out the letter. If they can't read or write themselves yet ask them the questions and write the answers for them. Older children should be able to fill out the letter themselves.
3. Children can colour in the illustrations. The Christmas images at the bottom of the page have been left blank to allow children to colour them in or decorate if they want to.
4. Fold up the letter and post it to Santa. You can post your letter to Santa via one of the addresses below in order to get a response in the mail.
HOW TO SEND YOUR LETTER TO SANTA
To send your letter to Santa at the North Pole you'll need to follow different instructions depending on what country you live in {check the list below}. Remember the sooner you send your letter the more likely you will receive a response before Christmas Day.
How to send a letter to Santa in Australia:
- Santa's Address: Santa, North Pole 9999
- Attach a 65c Christmas card-only stamp to the front of the envelope
- Write your name and address on the back of the envelope so Santa can reply
- Post your letter to Santa at any Australian Post post box or one of the specially marked post boxes at participating Post Offices
- Send letters by December 1st to receive a reply by Christmas, however letters can be posted until December 24th but replies may be delayed.
How to send a letter to Santa in the United Kingdom:
- Santa's Address: Santa/Father Christmas, Santa's Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ
- Put a stamp on the envelope so it gets to Santa
- Include your full name and address on the back of the envelope
- Replies will be sent via Royal Mail by November 30th
- If it's after November 30 you can download a copy of Santa's reply here
How to send a letter to Santa in the USA:
- Santa's Address: Santa, 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888
- Include your full name and return address along with your apartment number in the upper left corner
- Attach a First-Class™ stamp in the upper right corner
- Send your letter by December 11th to receive a response.
How to send a letter to Santa in Canada:
- Santa's Address: Santa Claus, North Pole, H0H 0H0, Canada
- No stamps are required to mail a letter to Santa within Canada.
- Include your return address and drop the letter in any Canada Post mailbox or post office.
- Please mail all letters from one family in the same envelope.
- Send you letter by December 7th to receive a response before Christmas
