Mummy Must Have | Mum Box

Once you have a baby its a natural progression that pretty much everything in your life becomes about the baby. When they're hungry, when they're sleeping, when they're not sleeping, all their stuff that takes over every corner of the house. It's insane how quickly a tiny little human can take over the house. It's easy to forget to spend time taking care of yourself and its even less likely that you'll be buying stuff for yourself anymore. At least it is if you're anything like me, cute baby clothes always win over something for me, every. single. time.

So that's why I'm so excited about the new Mum Box. Its a special little box full of surprises that arrives at your door just for you (and your little one). Unlike other subscription box services, Mum Box doesn't require you to sign up for a certain number of boxes, you can simply order one when you feel like receiving a little pick me up in the mail. There's one box each month available to purchase online after the 15th of each month. There are limited numbers of each box available so its best to get in quick. You can pre-order the box prior to the 15th, and if there's any left, you can keep ordering them after they're released until they're sold out.

The Mum Box is only $29 including free postage and you're guaranteed to get more than $29 worth of products and vouchers in the box. Like most subscription boxes, the contents of the Mum Box each month is a surprise so I got one to test out if it lives up to the promise. I received the October Mum Box which included 8 products + gift vouchers.

OCTOBER MUM BOX

When the box arrived it contained quite a few products that I'd never heard of before and a few really cool ones that I'd been meaning to try. So what do you get for $29? Well, here's what the October box had inside (each months box contains different items).

1. Hippybottomus Wet Bag
I got really excited about this one because I've been meaning to get a wet bag for a while. Its going to come in super handy for storing her wet togs after swimming lessons and when we go to the beach. They're also great to store wet nappies in if you don't have any plastic nappy bags and there's no bin around.

2. Sinchies Reusable 80ml Pouch
I've always made bub's food myself due to her allergies and I saw Sinchies pouches online and thought they looked like a great product, but never purchased any because I was using bowls. The only regret I have with this one is that it didn't arrive sooner as shes no longer eating pureed food. Due to her milk allergy she can't have yoghurts either, but its perfect for storing my yoghurt! The Sinchies pouches are freezer and dishwasher safe and completely reusable. There are so many ways to use them other than baby food though such as smoothies, yoghurt, liquid stock and even jelly.

3. TRENDe-tatts tattoo pack
I'd never heard of these before receiving them in the pack, but they're a seriously cool invention. They're temporary tattoo's that you can put on your children and then write over with details such as your phone number. They're such a great idea for when you're out at busy events or the beach etc just incase, god forbid, your child gets lost. The ink doesn't go through the tattoo onto the skin and they're 100% removable afterwards. I haven't used ours yet because I haven't needed to, but I'm definitely keeping them for later use.

4. Covergirl Lipgloss
I love me some lipgloss so I was super excited to see this in the box, especially given I haven't bought any since I had bub. It's always nice to have a reminder of life before bub when I used to put a lot more effort into my appearance each day.

5. Tea Tonic chocolate tea
Its probably a little sad how excited I got when I saw chocolate tea bags in the box!
Chocolate + Tea = my two favourite things in the world (well you know apart from T and bub) and they're both essential for surviving each day with a toddler!

6. Infinity Scarf
There was a chevron white and teal summer scarf in the box which, if I'm totally honest, is probably the only item I won't use myself. I don't wear scarves much as I don't like things around my neck, but it will make a really nice gift for someone (hopefully they're not reading my blog right now).

7. Polka Dot Paper Straws (25 pack)
One of the biggest trends in entertaining and part planning at the moment is paper straws and I love them. I used them at bub's first birthday party and I plan on using them for any parties we hold in the future. I was really happy to see them in the box, although I'm not sure they'll make it to the next party as I'll probably use them myself before then. Its always nice to have something to make those five minutes peace when you get to sit and have a drink a little bit special.

8. Play Doh
One of the things I've been looking forward to most with bub is being able to play with Play Doh! Seriously who doesn't love Play Doh?! Its right up there with lego and play kitchens as far as children's toys go! I can't wait to for bub to play with this (with me of course!). I gave it to her when it first arrived, but it pretty much went straight towards her mouth so I'm putting it away for a bit longer until she's over the everything must go in my mouth stage.

In addition to all these products there was also discount vouchers for TRENDe-tatts, I've got an ow health diary (which we've already got) and Playground Princess.

The Mum Box was only launched in October by fellow mum of two Jasmine (who also runs Bargain Mums). Jasmine saw a gap in the marketplace and Mum Box was born.
"I recently discovered the subscription box trend taking over the US, and noticed the trend was starting to take off here in Australia too, but the industry was really only about beauty boxes.  Being a mum myself, I understand how much of ourselves we give to our loved ones, and how little we take for ourselves.  I wanted to fill the void with a monthly box just for us mums." - Jasmine Boothey.
I think the Mum Box is an awesome idea because, like Jasmine said, there really isn't much out there just for mums. I also love that unlike other subscription services you are not required to sign up or order a minimum number of boxes with Mum Box. I know a lot of people can be sceptical when it comes to subscription boxes, myself included, but after receiving it I definitely think the Mum Box is value for money.

The November Mum Box is currently available to purchase and one of the products has been revealed - you get to choose from three different shades of OPI Shatter Nail Polish (that product alone is worth $19.99 and happens to be my favourite nail polish). If you'd like to get an October box there are still a few available online, but hurry because they won't be there for long.

Tell me, would you love to receive a box of surprises in the mail?

    1. I think she's aiming to make the boxes suitable to mums with kids of all ages so that most mums will find them relevant and useful :)

  8. I like this idea. I don't know another single mum who doesn't neglect herself and isn't in need of a little booster. I think it would make a sweet gift.

    1. We really all need to work on doing more for ourselves don't we, although I don't see that changing anytime soon unfortunately.

  9. I adore subscription boxes and I am making it my mission in life to experience them all! (Some days I even consider starting up my own business in them!) I think they're hot items, the boxes. Big lover of OPI polishes too. I used to pop in to the local salon when I lived inner, once a week, to buy myself a new OPI colour! I have gazillions of them! (Just bought more too ;)) The TVSN website often has them on sale too so check them out for OPI bargains! ;)

    1. Thats why I love that this one you can buy a single box at a time so its a lot less risky compared to the ones that make you sign up for 6 or 12 months :)
