It's time to introduce you guys to yet another awesome Playgro toy. I have to say I was super excited when I opened our latest box of goodies and saw the Spinning Popping Pal. I've been considering getting one for bub for a while. I have to admit I want to play with it just as much as her, because essentially I'm just a big kid at heart. When I was younger I had one of those fake mower toys that made the popping sounds as you pushed it and I've had a soft spot for popping toys ever since. I'm doing everything I can to pass this affinity onto bub.
It turns out I didn't actually have to do anything to encourage her to play with it. As soon as I opened the box her eyes lit up and she pulled it out to investigate. She didn't even wait for me to take it out of the packaging before she went ahead and started playing with it. I was actually quite impressed that she knew how to work it straight away. She doesn't have many toys that require pushing so I thought for sure I'd need to show her how to use it a few times before she'd get it, but apparently she's even smarter than I thought.
The Spinning Popping Pal is such a timeless classic toy. There are no bells and whistles - no crazy tunes or flashy lights, just good old fashioned fun. It's so simple and easy to use. All that's needed is a simple push down on the handle and the balls rotate and pop around providing hours of entertainment for bub. She loves watching all the balls spin around in different directions. Sometimes she doesn't even wait for it to stop spinning before she starts pushing it again.
Apart from the spinning around, the bright colours and different patterns on the balls and centre of the toy also capture her attention. Its amazing how something so simple can fascinate a baby for so long. Mind you having said that I love playing with it too so maybe its not that surprising. The popping sound and the fact that the balls actually pop up and down is the best part though. There's just something so special about popping toys. It's entirely possible I like this toy almost as much as bub (although nobody looks at her weird when she's playing with it).
I also have no fear that the toy will break and the balls will get out. The outer plastic case is built tough, seriously tough, because ours has been dropped on the tiles or accidentally knocked off the table more times than I can count and it's no worse for wear. Thankfully, because toddlers will be toddlers after all.
If you're looking for an affordable, entertaining and educational toy for your baby or toddler then the Playgro Spinning Popping Pal is definitely a great option. It encourages babies to develop their fine and gross motor skills whilst having heaps of fun. It also doesn't need batteries so won't stop working (some parents may see that as a negative, but I see it as a big plus). It's guided for 6 months plus and I think this is appropriate and it will continue to entertain them for many months to come. Bub is now almost 14 months and shes still really entertained by it and I don't see that changing any time soon. And given I still enjoy playing with it at nearly 30 I'd say its a worthwhile investment. If you'd like to get your own Spinning Popping Pal you can find them at Toys R Us for $19.95.

I can see this would be super appealing for yougin's. Movement + noise. Win, win!
ReplyDeleteExactly, how could it not be :)
DeleteYes, we have one of those and I am probably the one who plays with it the most too!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one Jody!
DeleteIt's amazing how quickly kids can pick things up without much guidance. Mr 5 didn't have one of these but he did have one of the mowers and he loved it!
ReplyDeleteThe mower was so cool. I'm just waiting for her to get a little older so I have an excuse to buy her (me) one.
DeleteI think I'll have to put this on Moo's list for Christmas. Such a cute lil product tester you have :)
ReplyDeleteYes definitely, Moo will love it!
DeleteYour little one is just adorable!! Perhaps I should be buying one of these for my nephew.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheridan, I think I'm very lucky she chose me to be her mummy :)
DeleteI dare say your nephew would love it!
That's a great baby toy! I also loved the toy mowers :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
It's the popping isn't it, we're all obsessed with the popping :)
DeleteHaha - once she grows out of baby popping toys you'll have to introduce her to board games where you pop the dice to make your move!
ReplyDeleteOMG I totally forgot about those board games! *making a mental note to add those to the future present list*
DeleteWe had something very similar when my girls were little and they loved it.
ReplyDeleteIt such a classic toy, I don't think it would ever date.
DeleteWhat a great toy! I think my kids would both love it, even at the ages of two and four. #TeamMM
ReplyDeleteTotally! I can see we're going to be using it for years to come.
DeleteMy kids had something similar except it took the full force of a grown adult to push the damn handle down, so was a bit of a fail as far as a toy goes!
ReplyDeleteThat's a bit crap. Luckily she was all over this one in a few seconds, its very kid friendly (as you would expect toys should be lol).
