Confessions of a new mum, a dreamer and a chronic over thinker

confessions of a new mum, a dreamer and a chronic over-thinker

Today's I must confess topic is micro-confessions, so here goes my list of random confessions, in no particular order.

  • I still need to lose baby weight a year after having my baby.
  • I know all the words to the Thomas & friends, Playschool, Sesame Street and Giggle and Hoot theme songs... I may even be a little proud of the fact.
  • I act silly on a daily basis.
  • I only like cheese if its melted.
  • I hate cherry ripes, and cherries and coconut in general.
  • I keep tomato sauce in the cupboard, not the fridge (why the hell would you want it cold?).
  • I worry too much about everything, all the time. Thankyou anxiety disorder.
  • I'm addicted to buying baby clothes - ok that's not a confession, we all already knew that.
  • I loved sultanas as a child, but can't stand them now. I still haven't been able to bring myself to give them to my daughter.
  • I eat frozen meals for dinner on the nights Trent works.
  • I prefer lipgloss over lipstick although it's very rare that I wear actual makeup these days.
  • I have crazy dreams all the time, to the point where I wonder if my hormones are out of whack cos I'm pregnant again. I'm not. I clearly just have an over-active imagination, or I'm a weirdo - you decide.
  • My favourite sound in the whole world is my daughter's laughter, closely followed by being called mum.
  • I need to put myself first more often.
  • I worry if I'm a good mum.

What are your mini confessions?
Do you know all the words to any kids shows? Are you jealous that I do...?

  2. Oh... I have a gazillion mini confessions. Just today I realised that EVERY TIME I wash I forget and leave the washing in the machine for hours before I remember it's there. Plus I can't handwash so put even the most delicate things in with my load of washing!

    1. I leave clothes in the washing machine ALL THE TIME, or I turn on the washing machine and forget to go back and put the clothes in the dam machine in the first place.

  3. OMG you hate Cherry Ripes and coconut! That must mean you hate Bounty bars as well *faints*

    1. Yep Bounty bars are crap too! Sorry I just can't do it. I can force down a lamington, but thats about as far as I go with coconut.

  4. Eww sultanas, don't do it! They are not nice when you come across them partially digested in bub's nappies believe me!

    1. Yea I've heard this many times from the other mums in my mothers group - another reason why I haven't gone there yet.

  5. Oh so not jealous of your kids show theme song knowledge ... I don't have children and I know most of the songs that have ever featured on playschool and the theme song of cause, most of the Wiggles songs not including current releases and many more children's songs, rhymes and t.v theme songs. I also don't see the point of sauce in the fridge, we never had it there as kids and we didn't die. I used to love milk arrowroots and apple juice as a kid and now I dislike both. Loving your confessions.

    1. Isn't it weird how things you love as a kid you end up hating as an adult. Perhaps its over exposure, or we just grow old and realise they're yuk.

  6. I have the weird dreams too. It's messing with my head. Nice to learn a bit more about you. x

    1. Omg the dreams mess with my head so bad. The scary thing is sometimes, even as far fetched as they are, I spend half the day trying to work out if they were real or not!

  7. I'm not a cherry ripe fan either.

    1. Yay I found someone else who doesn't like them! Seriously some people look at me like I'm the devil when I admit I don't like them.

  8. Ha ha tomato sauce in fridge here, not sure why? You make a good point! Don't worry I haven't lost all my baby weight THREE YEARS after my last child - DOH! Thanks for linking :) And be kind to yourself a bit more okay?

    1. I don't envisage my baby weight going anywhere anytime soon... oh well lol

  9. I keep the tomato sauce in the pantry too, and the vegemite. It's a bit of worry come to think of it, about what's in it, that it never goes off! Preservative city I suspect. The 'mum' bit gets old eventually, after you've heard in a certain tone for the 50th time in a day haha. The laughter never gets old xx

    1. Yea actually I'm starting to wonder if I should keep it in the fridge for health reasons now! Its probably 99% artificial anyway. I haven't got sick from it so far.

Its funny she already says mum in a more demanding tone than dad.

  10. No to cherry ripes for me either, I just pass them on to dear Hubster who loves them!

  11. I used to keep my tomato sauce in the cupboard for years. And then someone made me read the label and it said refrigerate after opening. So I switched sides. I'm used to it being cold now but I know I was incredulous at first! Love the photo at the top - beautiful!

    1. Yea this post is making me wonder if I should switch it to the fridge too. I've never even read the label, I just assumed it stays in the cupboard because that's all we've ever done even when we were growing up.

  12. I know all these songs and more. Yesterday on the train home from the city, I was singing to myself the Giggle and Hoot goodnight song. Drove me batty.
Every time you get a cherry ripe, give it to me. I love them!

    1. I know way more songs than that too, but I got sick of listing kids shows after the first few haha I'm lazy! I'll happily send them to you Sarah!

  13. A fun read and insight into some of your quirky sides. I echo confession #2... more songs that these actually. I'm like a walking jukebox for the kids... if only I get real coins put into me every time they want a song from me. I actually LOVE coconut, but not so much in cherry ripe... I don't think that's what real cherries are meant to taste like. We keep our tomato sauce in the fridge... I prefer it at room temperature, but I always thought the label on it said to "refrigerate after opening". Must check on that.

    1. I wish I got paid each time I sung one of the songs too! I realise how many I know when I spend a day at home and abc 4 kids is on in the background, its really scary just how many kid lyrics I've managed to store in my brain. Even more scarier that I automatically start singing them when the music starts.

  14. I can still remember the names (and colors) of all the Teletubbies (and I have a kid in college)! Take a deep breath; you are definitely not alone!
