Mummy Must Have Review | Mini Beanz

Bub is definitely a little daddy's girl. Although she spends most of her time with me, whenever he's around she's like his little lap dog following him around and copying him. Everything he does she has to do too {including unsavoury things like burping on purpose then laughing hysterically}. A few months back when daddy got a bean bag she decided she wanted one too. Of course being a toddler there's no way she would share daddy's bean bag, because well toddlers and sharing... enough said.

I didn't want to buy her a plain old bean bag because I figured the novelty of a bean bag would wear off over time. I wanted to get her a chair that could be just hers so she had her own little spot. So by way of compromise I bought a fold out foam couch thinking that'd do the trick. But, instead of using it as a couch, it was used as a place to stash all her toys. I should've known it wouldn't work because a foam couch is not a bean bag. Evidently she wanted a bean bag.

Luckily there are an abundance of kids bean bags available so I went on a search for something extra special. A few months back I saw one that combined a bean bag + a chair in my facebook feed. A bean bag arm chair. How cool is that? It's possibly the coolest toddler bean bag ever invented, so of course I knew I wanted it for bub.

MINI BEANZ TODDLER LOUNGE

The Mini Beanz Toddler Lounge is an arm chair bean bag purpose built for toddlers. It's seriously the cutest little chair ever. I'm actually a little jealous and kind of want one for myself {I tried to sit in it but my bum is definitely too big unfortunately}.

The toddler lounge comes in pink or blue Oxford fabric to compliment most children's bedrooms or play areas. It has a no spill system and child safety zipper to ensure all of the bean filling remains inside the bag. I love this safety feature as I'm paranoid bub will get the beans and try to eat them. She likes to play with them because they look like tiny balls {she got a few when we were filling daddy's bean bag because he spilt them everywhere!}. The double zipped inside layer and the cover over the top give me peace of mind that she won't be able to get anywhere near the beans. The cover is also removable and machine washable which is great because kids will be kids and accidents do happen.

Its recommend to fill the lounge with approximately 60ltrs of beans which I agree is the optimal amount. We initially filled it with more than that purely because we'd purchased beans in 40ltr bags and the two bags fit into the bean bag. However, it makes it too full and then there wasn't enough room for her bottom so I'd recommend you don't be overzealous like me, just stick to 60ltrs {or you'll have to dig them back out again like we did}. You can pick up beans relatively cheap from Kmart, Big W and Target.

The lounge shape of the bean bag means that although it's comfy and has the same pliable nature of any other bean bag, it still retains its shape. It moulds around them but also keeps them sitting upright and offers support with the back of the chair unlike normal bean bags. Bub loves that it has arms too, I often find her resting her free arm there while she's deep in concentration.

The chair also has a handle at the top which I initially thought was odd because you can easily carry it in your arms {its not like it weighs much}. But two seconds after I showed it to bub I soon worked out why there was a handle. The first thing she did was pick it up by the handle and walk it into the next room saying "come mummy, mummy sit too". Mystery solved. Outsmarted by a toddler again {don't worry it happens more often than you'd think}. It makes sense a lounge designed for toddlers would have features perfect for a toddler. Seems I just need to think like a toddler sometimes and stop looking at things with my adult brain.

The toddler lounge also has a storage pocket on the side which is great for her to stash her special items. I'm constantly finding little people, crayons, pens, pegs and fake food shoved into the cracks of our lounge, clearly put there for safe keeping and forgotten about. I'm hoping now that she has her own special "stash pocket" she'll store all her special things in there {because it'd be nice to sit down without having random toys lodge themselves where they're not meant to be}. Considering she's already put some toys in there I'd say it's going to work.

I couldn't be happier with the toddler lounge as its given her her own special spot where she can sit and do her own thing without us annoying adults cramping her style. Its the perfect spot for her to relax while reading a book, playing games on her iPad or pretending to play the play station with daddy. Its clear that Mini Beanz put a lot of thought into the design to create the perfect little bean bag chair for a toddler.

Did you have a cool bean bag when you were a kid too?

  1. Oh these are so cute! I think miss 3 would have to fight the cat for it though! :)

    1. I'm waiting for our cats to claim it too, so far I think they're oblivious to it but give them time they'll be fighting her for it.

  2. We have been looking for something just like this to buy the girls for Christmas. Because Moo has low tone, this would be nice and supportive for her. Great review and discount! Thanks!
I also love your bub's tee. We are right in to Mr Men and Little Miss at the moment.

    1. Yes its a nice supportive bean bag but still has the same fun sensory experience as a plain bean bag. Haha as soon as I saw little miss chatterbox tee I had to get it because that's exactly what she is.

  5. I'm with Bec, and want to know if it comes in adult sizes?
Years ago we bought a giant big red car bean bag for the kids. It was awesome, but so impractical because it was massive.

    1. I want an adult one too. These ones are only baby size so don't take up much room. I'd still love an adult one though, although I have no idea where we'd put it either. A car one sounds cool too.

  6. These are super cute! And much more comfortable than a fold-out couch. Our fold-out kiddie couch ended up being used more by the cat than the tornadoes!

    1. It's actually not that bad space wise. We live in a small townhouse and its much better than the normal size beanbag.
