52 WEEKS OF MEMORIES | 8 - ON THE FLOOR

What isn't on the floor these days?

Seriously its like there's been a cyclone in my house most days. She hasn't quite mastered the art of putting things away yet. The joys of living with a toddler tornado.

We do however do a lot of play on the floor. This week while we were housebound due to flooding and torrential rain (thanks Marcia) I got out a paint with water book to see if she'd be interested. She's never painted before and considering how much mess she makes with other craft activities I thought paint with water was a much safer option than actual paint. She absolutely loved it. I think I might have a little artist on my hands. Although it did drive me a little nuts when she was bleeding the colours into each other! I really need to learn how to control my ocd when it comes to playtime otherwise playdough and painting with send me loopy. I just remind myself its still fun no matter which way we do it (and I have to consciously look at things from her perspective and turn off my adult brain sometimes).

    1. Yep we were lucky it wasn't officially a cyclone anymore by the time it came down here. I think its the closest we've got to having a cyclone hit us though.

  6. Take it from me, heat outside somewhere, get an old sheet or duvet cover and ignore the mess, you'll both be happier and she won't worry later in life about the small stuff!!!

    1. I took her outside to do water play in the courtyard yesterday, the only problem is getting her to come back inside.

  7. I had to get over myself where the mess was concerned. I just let them go for it and clean up after the cyclone! Kids are messy buggers and some days the mess just doesn't get cleaned up. That was so not me when they were little, now I am losing the battle haha and slowly I just gave in :)

    1. Yea I'm giving in. I really don't care anymore, unless somebody is coming over. Thankgod people don't randomly pop in or I'd have a heart attack.

  9. When I go to visit my mum and dad, where my sister and her twins live, you can't walk from a to b without tripping over something!! And they are at the 'grab everything within reach and hurl it on the floor stage!' Lol... Cute but frustrating!

    1. I trip over stuff all the time. I'm actually quite surprised I haven't broken a bone yet with the amount of times I go a over t on a block or bloody ball.
