Mummy Must Have | Buster Boo personalised santa stocking

Unless you've been living under a rock lately, you've probably started to realise its nearly Christmas. All the Christmas trees, baubles, tinsel, fairy lights and carols taking over the shops have probably given you a bit of a hint. In fact there's only 7 weeks until Christmas, which may still seem like a long time to some, but trust me it still has a habit of sneaking up on you at the last minute! Last year I had great intentions of making her first Christmas a big event, but of course it never happened, because bam all of a sudden it was mid December and I hadn't even started thinking about it. Lucky she was only five months old and won't remember it. I'm making up for it this year.

When I think of Christmas I immediately think of stockings hanging on a fireplace. I have no idea why, considering I live in Australia and its always blistering hot on Christmas day and I've never even lived in a house with a fireplace. I put it down to most of the Christmas movies being American and the fact that they're in the midst of winter so fireplaces and stockings feature heavily. There's also the fact that Santa is meant to come down the chimney to deliver presents so I've probably seen it a lot in books while growing up as well. Either way Christmas automatically conjures up images of stockings hanging, so this year I was determined to get one for bub.

When we were little the only stocking's we ever had (that I can remember) were the Cadbury ones full of chocolates, but given bub has a dairy allergy and is only 1 those are out. I'd much rather a proper stocking anyway that can be used year after year. There are so many places to find stockings these days, but as usual I prefer to go the personalised route instead of getting any old run of the mill stocking that thousands of other kids will have. So, I got a personalised stocking from Buster Boo. This year there are five different fabric designs to choose from.

I was tossing up between the spot and tree designs. In the end I chose the Christmas tree fabric as my taste in decorations changes each year and I may chop and change from spots and stripes, but Christmas trees will always been an integral part of our decorating so it'll always fit in year after year. The embroidery is done in green on all designs. It can feature any name you like and can be done in either block letters or cursive writing. I went with block letters because it'll be easier for her to read when she starts learning words.

All of the Christmas stockings are made from scratch at Buster Boo as well as the machine embroidery. The stockings are 100% cotton and fully lined. They're 55cm in length and 20cm wide at the top opening so they can fit heaps of stocking fillers. I'm going to use hers for her pillow doll I've got for her and probably a few more things will make their way in there by the time Christmas comes around. Knowing me I'm bound to find other stuff I want to get her between now and then.

Buster Boo: Little Linens is a family run business based in Brisbane. They stock a range of products including cot blankets, play mats and bibs. All of their items are handmade and they use an exclusive range of funky, bright and fun fabrics made just for them. All fabrics are 100% cotton as founder Sasha suffers from dermatitis and is aware of the advantages of using natural products, such as, reducing irritation and  skin dryness.

The Buster Boo personalised stockings can be easily ordered online. Simply pick the stocking design, choose what type of script and then leave the name to be embroidered at the checkout. Easy peasy. At $44.95 they may seem expensive to some, but in terms of personalised handmade products that's a pretty standard price. When you consider the quality and how many years you will use it for its pretty much the same as buying a cheap stocking each year, but you're getting a much better product. On top of this, Buster Boo are offering all Finding Myself Young readers 15% off all personalised stockings, simply use the code FMY15 at the checkout to claim the discount. Please note stocking orders close at 5pm on December 1st to ensure they are personalised and shipped well before Christmas Day.

Are you starting to prepare for Christmas yet?

  2. My last message just disappeared so will try again! I am feeling really smug this year because I've already got a lot of pressies sorted, some of them I've made, which I've never done before. I also made a Christmas Wreath on the holidays with the kids which is made of toilet rolls. Sounds awful but it's really beautiful. I have never been this prepared for Christmas in my whole life.

  8. The only thing I have done for Christmas so far is Mr 5's presents. We are going away in 3 weeks so at the moment all of our energy (and money!) is being focused on that. Once we get over that though, I am sure it will be on to all things Christmas!
