Mummy Must Have | Indie & Sloan

So right off the bat I'm going to admit that this weeks business is run by one of my closest friends, Megan, but even if it wasn't I'd still be featuring it. In the interest of full disclosure I wanted to share that first.

You know when you find a friend who doesn't mind hearing your relationship drama over and over. A friend who will drop everything to come over when you're crying in your house alone with a baby. A friend who makes you breakfast after you've had a baby even when shes six months pregnant herself. A friend who supports you through PND. A friend who inspires you to be a better person. She is that kind of friend. When you find a friend like that you never let them go. Not through job changes, a marriage breakup, the deliriousness of new baby land or the crazy sadness of PND. You hold onto them tight (in a completely rhetorical way). You support each other through the bad times and celebrate the good times.

And thats what we've done.

6 years, a divorce (me), a wedding (her) and three babies (2 for her, 1 for me) later here we are. Still close friends and still supporting and celebrating each other, and our babies. We spent so much time over those years contemplating what we wanted to do in life and it finally seems like things are falling into place. I've found my thing with blogging, we're both happy being mummy's and now shes found her thing with her new business Indie and Sloan.

Indie and Sloan make cool tee's for babies, boys and girls from newborn to 6 yrs old. Indie and Sloan tees are for kids with an adventurous spirit, those who like to stand out and explore and who aren't afraid to get dirty. It's named after Megan's two children, which is perfect because they're both adventurous and a little bit cheeky, just like her designs.

All designs are original and are screen printed by hand using non-toxic water based ink. At the moment there are 5 designs - Ingrid the owl, Cap'n Iggy, Jimmy, Rad to the bone and Warrior & Princess. I'll let you all in on another little secret - bub was actually the muse for Ingrid the owl - she certainly fits the bill of being adventurous, cheeky and has a little attitude to boot. I don't think you'd find a little girl more obsessed with owls then her, if you do you should get them one of these tees.

The tee's are 100% cotton and the screen printing looks even better in real life than it does in photos. So much detail has gone into the owl designs right down to each individual feather. And I love that Ingrid is purple (thanks to Indie for remembering that my Hayley's favourite colour is purple). The tees are 100% cotton, durable and wash well. We've certainly put ours through its paces exploring in trees, kicking the ball around and playing in the grass with leaves.

We got a size 18-24 months and bub is only 13 months so its still got quite a bit of room to move. She most likely would fit the 12-18 month size, but sometimes needs to go up a size so I erred on the side of caution and went the next size up. It fits her ok to be worn now (albeit a bit baggy) and we should get quite a few months wear out of it right through to summer. Overall I think the tees are more towards the generous size, but bub probably appreciates that as she usually grows out of her clothes quickly so having room to move is probably quite freeing for her. It certainly hasn't slowed her down (even though the tee is down to her bum).

These are the other Indie and Sloan designs currently available Cap'n Iggy, Jimmy, Princess & Warrior and Rad to the bone. Jimmy and Rad to the bone are two of many unisex designs planned for Indie and Sloan. There are also adult tees planned in the future, which I'm slightly excited about (matching mummy and me tees woohoo).

I'm so happy for Megan. To be able to combine her love for design and kids into a business is the ultimate dream and now she gets to live it. I'm loving all the designs so far and can't wait to see what she comes up with next (yep even I don't know all the design secrets even though we're friends). If you have a little one who'd look great in one of these tees I've got a special offer for you so you can kit them out for summer.

  3. Those tees look super cool. It's great to get some different clothes for the kids rather than having them all run around in the same old things from Target :) Sounds like you have a beautiful friendship there.

    1. I do love me some $5 tees from Target, but mainly because I don't care if they get ruined after a few wears. Its nice to have some good quality unique pieces too though.
