52 WEEKS OF MEMORIES | 13 - READING

Obviously bub is nowhere near reading herself yet, but I think reading to kids is important and why not start when they're babies? Most of her books are the touch and feel ones with crinkly pages aimed more at developing her senses. I did however manage to stumble across the sweetest little Winnie the Pooh baby books one day at Big W on sale for $2 (best accidental find ever). One of them is a pop up book, but that one requires supervision because someone's little fingers LOVE ripping up paper.

We had a little reading session this morning after she woke up. Its so hard to take a photo of her while I'm reading to her and shes pointing and pulling at the book. I was going to settle with an out of focus fuzzy photo, but then something really cute happened. When I went to make her bottle I was watching her and she crawled over to the book, opened it and sat there studying the pictures. So I grabbed my phone and snapped this photo.

13 | READING

- I caught her reading her book when she thought I wasn't watching -
{her version of reading anyway}

    1. She sat there for about 5 minutes just staring at the pages. It was so cute.

  2. YAY for books, my new plan to get them to 'read' more is to leave them lying around the floor instead of stacked tidily on a shelf. Not so great for my stress levels though

    1. You would think they'd want to pull them off the shelves to mess them up??

  4. It can never hurt starting to read to them early and the fact she was reading by herself is a really awesome thing! We did with our first and admittedly our second is nine months and I haven't started the routine of reading yet, must get to it.

  7. This is such a great picture. I have a little bookworm, but I never borrow the pop up books, just the board books. I cannot trust my two year old!

    1. Yea I have a feeling the two pop up books we have won't stay that way for long if she gets her hands on them when I'm not around.

  10. Isn't it the cutest watching them study pictures of a book? It always looks like they're actually reading. I never get tired of watching them. Love your little one's chubby thighs. Yay for bargain book finds!
